Loop - Course and Module Evaluation

What do you think of your Course and Modules? Let us know with Loop!

Loop is USW’s course and module evaluation service. Using Loop you can provide feedback on your course and modules at any time of the year – completely anonymously, in either English or Welsh.

Giving us your views will help us to work out what you like (or don’t like!) about your teaching, and this feedback will help us to improve.

Here are some of the changes made as a result of student feedback:

The library spaces are particularly popular during this period.
All of our campus libraries have a range of silent study rooms and quiet spaces.

  • Newport NCCCB04
  • Glyntaff GTL007/GTL102
  • Cardiff CAAA007a
  • Treforest TRL116

Alternatively, why not try a different library space?
Or, you could utilise empty classrooms around campus! You will only be asked to leave if there is a scheduled class due in there.

Did you know that during exam periods, we extend our opening hours across all of our libraries?

The library have produced a year review to showcase all the work they have done over the pat year.

Sports Park

While students love the Sports Park, one thing one thig was evident and that is the lack of food choices, specifically healthy and nutritious meals.
Sports Park catering are limited to what they can serve from the café as there is no traditional cooking area or qualified chefs on site. The concept of the café was to offer hot grab and go food and a selection of hot and cold beverages. Larger sites have at least one chef who supports the team at the front of house. They are trying to provide a wide variety of products that can cater for using the storage and preparation areas. They are working with suppliers to develop solutions that bridge this gap and there will be changes this year to the menu and products available. The team will be re-introducing Chicken wraps.

Parking is an issue at nearly every University in the country. USW is no different. In fact, Treforest campus is lucky in that it does have parking, both Newport and Cardiff campuses have no on-site parking available to students (unless the student has a valid disabled badge).
There are many alternatives to driving to Treforest campus. Some of them can be more cost effective especially if you can get discount cards.

  • Train – Transport for Wales (TfW) offer a range of travel discounts. You can get a 16-25 railcard (£30 a year with 1/3 discount on rail travel) or if you travel from the Valleys, a Valleys Student Railcard (£10 a year with 26% off all day tickets and 10% off season tickets). Apply for one here
  • Bus – Stagecoach offer student discount. Coming from further afield? Both Megabus and National Express offer student discount. An NUS Totem card or Unidays account will also give you discount
  • Car Share – post an advert in Market Place on Unilife or ask some of your course mates to lift share.
