Council Tax Exemption Certificate–self generated

This page tells you what to do next if you have generated a Council Tax Exemption Certificate, also known as a council tax letter, through UniLife.

If you have arrived on this page after clicking on a ‘Request Council Tax Certificate’ button then you have successfully generated a council tax exemption certificate. To obtain the certificate go to your UniLife email inbox.

If you have arrived on this page without clicking on a ‘Request Council Tax Certificate’ button’ (eg. by using a search engine), please go to the Council Tax page to start the process.

A small number of students have reported that the email goes into their spam mail folder. If you have requested a letter and it does not appear in your email inbox please check your spam folder.

Printing your letter

You can print your letter directly from your web browser or download it as a PDF to print. As this letter contains personal data we do not recommend that you save it to a public access computer.

Print in coloured ink on ordinary white paper. Some local authorities will not accept the certificate if the University logo is not in color or printed on coloured paper.

Further help

If you experience any problems with the letter being accepted by your Local Authority please contact your Campus Advice Zone.
