Parking

Students travelling to the University should be aware that CAR PARKING IS VERY LIMITED on all campuses, particularly at the beginning of the autumn term.

Please consider alternatives to driving where possible – use public transport or find/advertise car shares via MarketPlace on UniLife.

Cardiff Campus Parking

There are no student parking facilities on the Cardiff campus except for students with disabilities.

Off-Campus Parking, Cardiff
The nearest car park to the Cardiff campus is NCP Pellett Street.

Students can apply for an NCP ParkPass which allows parking in the following car parks at a discounted rate:
• Pellett Street – £5 for 6 Hours Parking, £6 for 12 Hours Parking
• Knox Road/Dumfries Place – £4 for 6 Hours Parking, £6 for 12 Hours Parking

Details of how to register for the NCP ParkPass can be obtained from the Atrium reception desk or by emailing reception_atrium@southwales.ac.uk.

Your NCP ParkPass card will be posted to you within 6 working days of registration. Until then you will need to pay for parking at the standard rate.

Newport Campus Parking

There are no student parking facilities on the Newport campus except for students with disabilities.

Off-Campus Parking, Newport
The nearest car parks to the Newport campus are the Kingsway Centre multistorey car park and Newport County Council car park.

Students can obtain a 20% discount at the Kingsway Centre multistorey car park. To qualify for this discount, scan your ticket at the campus reception desk on the ground floor.

Glyntaff/Treforest Campus Parking

Student parking is available on the Glyntaff campus (at both upper and lower Glyntaff).

There is a large student and visitor car park opposite the main entrance to the Treforest campus on Llantwit Road.

Students with disabilities can park on Glyntaff campus and on the main Treforest campus.

How to pay for parking at Glyntaff and Treforest
An automatic number plate recognition system is used at Glyntaff and Treforest so you don’t need to take a ticket to enter or exit the car parks. Pay using the Glide App or the ticket machine.

Alternatively, a 12 month parking permit or a student academic 9 month permit can be purchased from the online store.

Resident Parking Permits

You may need a resident parking permit to park in the street outside your house as failure to display a valid permit could lead to a fine. Information about permits can be found on your council website:

Parking at Treforest Halls of Residence

A limited number of parking spaces are available for students living at the Treforest halls of residence.
